Simrana’s multi-faceted artistic project is the direct result of an unwavering passion for all things musical.

Growing up in the city of Cairns in Australia’s North-East, the self-confessed “frequency dealer” dove headfirst into her local scene at the earliest opportunity - an approach that soon had her commanding the dance floor throughout Brisbane’s (Meanjin) raves, clubs, festivals, and inimitable ‘bush doofs’.

Since becoming a DJ in 2018, she’s exhibited her sound at many high-profile events that includes Splendour In The Grass, Esoteric, Ultra Music Festival and Creamfields UK; whilst also sharing the lineup with industry heavyweights such as Pleasurekraft, DJ Boring, Parfait & Partiboi69.

In more recent times, Simrana’s expertise and dedication to her craft has seen her deservedly garner significant supporting slots for some of techno’s most high-profile acts - namely, paving the way for MARRØN’s debut Melbourne set, and keeping the energy going following UK techno titan Perc’s first LIVE set in Australia.

Simrana’s migration to Melbourne in 2022 gave her the immersion she was looking for, leading to her gracing the decks of the city’s most frequented venues with her powerful, hypnotic techno stylings.

Blending elements of psychedelia, dream-like synths, and pumping percussion, Simrana has unquestionably begun to carve out a personalised tapestry of sound to share with her new city - and indeed the rest of the world.

Alongside her talents as a mixer and selector, 2021 saw Sim make the definitive transition into the world of producing, where she authentically draws upon the sounds of both her Indian heritage and really her experience throughout life.

During a period of reconnecting with her north Indian roots, the driving, mesmeric atmosphere of her debut ‘Prana’ single (Feb 2023) met the ears of fans new and old. The single, written intentionally in an uplifting key (D major), achieves a distinct purpose: to bring light and energy to a typically darker scene, to make people dance and rejoice, to shake off their worries.

Simrana has since embarked upon her next foray into the production realm, taking live elements from her Fender jazzmaster electric guitar and working them into ethereal, grungy ambient music. Her father was in bands his entire life and the two would often jam out together.

With Simrana’s desire to continue this shared passion, the scene is set to soon encounter an exciting collection of sounds from this growing Naarm favourite.
