Eastern Distributor is the project of multi- faceted Naarm-based artist Daniel Jakobsson.

The Warrang/Sydney born producer is, throughout his work, most at home in the disused, repurposed and deeply reimagined spaces across ‘so-called-Australia’. With a mix of indigenous Peruvian & Swedish heritage, ED’s approach to ‘reimagining’ is clear not only within his art, but is a deeply personal and cultural practice, transcending the conventional boundaries of space and genre.

Where does this music truly belong?

Sitting at the forefront of Australia’s newest wave of psychedelic, percussive and soundscape driven techno and drum & bass, Eastern Distributor has in his growing successes demonstrated a deep reimagining of the worlds that these genres sit in. His recently established ‘Jörmungandr’ alias meanwhile, pushes hard & fast against the walls of IDM, psytek & tekno.

A dedication to the unseen architecture sitting between these sounds has established his work among fans both at home and abroad.

In 2024, a string of shows across Europe, including appearances at Berghain & Garage Noord, allowed Eastern Distributor to welcome connect fans with the nomadic sensibilities of his sound. Recent releases on Amniote Editions, Ute.rec, Mala Junta & Pure Space have acted as Eastern Distributor’s most tangible expressions in an emerging musical career ready to bloom anywhere at seemingly any moment.
